Lecture 1

This is the first Lecture of Jour 1111, Intro of journalism and communication.

Befour I attended this class I had no ideal about journalism and communication, at lest I can't  tell anyone what is it. However, I felt there was one "journalism-building frame" has constructed in my mind when the classe finished.

H.L.Mencken was the most influential American literary critic in the 1920s. In The American Language (1919), he attempted to bring together examples of American expressions and idioms. The book grew with each reissue through the years, and in 1945 and 1948 he published substantial supplements. By the time of his death, Mencken was perhaps the leading authority on the language of his country. http://www.americanwriters.org/writers/mencken.asp

"I know of no human being who has a better time than an eagerand energetic young reporter." This is the first sentence showed on this Lecture and produced by H.L.Mencken. Through this sentence I felt the value of being a reporter and the inpact of studing journalism in my life. This sentences led my focus on this class, from this monment I started asking myself why did he say that? and began searching the answer.

Thirty minutes later I found the answer. "Journalism is the first rough draft of history." --Philip Graham. When you become a journalist or reporter, anything you have wrote and published will be recorded as apart of history. How important and powerful? It is a wonderful time to spent which can have such great value.
In a word, I found the frame and I will built inside during the classes after.
